Investment & Strategic Asset Management Manager
Our client is an established international business with a significant asset base and a complex investment environment. As part of the continued development of its finance and asset management activities, the company is looking to appoint an experienced Investment & Strategic Asset Management Manager.
This is a broad and evolving position offering significant autonomy and the opportunity to shape the scope of the role over time. Combining recurring investment analysis with strategic, commercial and asset management projects, the position offers the opportunity to take ownership of a variety of topics and contribute directly to business decisions.
The Role
A key responsibility will be to support the company's recurring investment decision-making process. Working closely with senior management and relevant business stakeholders, you will review investment proposals, challenge financial assumptions and translate complex analysis into clear recommendations and decision-ready materials.
Alongside this recurring responsibility, the role will have a significant project-based element, with a particular focus on developing a broader asset management approach. You will look at assets across their entire lifecycle, from initial investment and utilisation to portfolio composition, retention, disposal and replacement, identifying opportunities to optimise value and support long-term business objectives.
The position is deliberately broad, with approximately 40% focused on the recurring investment cycle and 60% on strategic analysis, project work and new areas of ownership that will evolve with the business. The successful candidate will be expected not only to execute existing processes, but also to identify where Finance can add value, take ownership of new topics and drive initiatives beyond traditional finance responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and coordinate financial materials for recurring investment committee meetings
- Review investment proposals and assess their financial attractiveness, including underlying assumptions, valuations and expected returns
- Analyse investment cases, financial models and key performance metrics, challenging and validating the underlying financial information
- Develop clear financial narratives, business cases and recommendations to support senior management decision-making
- Prepare high-quality board-level and management presentations
- Monitor the investment pipeline and support the evaluation of future investment opportunities
- Work closely with business and asset teams to develop, challenge and refine investment cases
- Help build and take ownership of an asset management approach covering the full lifecycle of the company's assets, from initial investment through utilisation and portfolio management to decisions around retention, disposal, replacement or retirement
- Analyse asset utilisation, portfolio composition and lifecycle decisions, identifying opportunities for optimisation and value creation
- Conduct strategic, financial and commercial analyses to support management decisions and broader business initiatives
- Take ownership of cross-functional projects and commercial topics that extend beyond traditional finance responsibilities
- Support strategic initiatives involving joint ventures, special purpose vehicles and potential portfolio optimisation opportunities
- Support broader corporate finance, transaction or M&A-related initiatives should these become relevant as the role evolves
Your Profile
We are looking for an experienced finance professional who combines strong analytical capabilities with commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity and a high degree of independence.
You should bring:
- Approximately 7+ years of relevant professional experience
- Strong experience in financial analysis, investment evaluation and/or corporate finance
- A solid understanding of valuation concepts, financial modelling and investment return metrics
- Experience preparing, reviewing and challenging business cases and investment decisions
- Demonstrated experience working on cross-functional projects and taking ownership of complex or loosely defined topics
- The ability to interpret complex financial information and translate it into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders
- A hands-on, pragmatic and solutions-oriented approach, with the ability to move comfortably between detailed analysis and broader commercial questions
- Strong commercial understanding and an interest in the wider business beyond pure finance
- The flexibility to operate across investment analysis, asset management, commercial finance and strategic projects as priorities evolve
- A curious, adaptable and proactive mindset, with the ability to identify opportunities and develop new areas of responsibility
- Ideally, experience within an asset-intensive, or capital-intensive business environment
- Exposure to M&A, transactions, joint ventures or similar corporate finance topics would be an advantage
- Excellent English communication skills; German would be an advantage
